Who we are
Kestrel Neuroscience Inc. is a Delaware nonprofit corporation and a tax-exempt public charity under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, EIN 39-2228320. Our offices are at 123 Johnson Avenue, Carrollton, GA 30116. This policy explains what personal information we collect through kestrelneuroscience.org, how we use it, and the choices you have. You can reach us at any time at info@kestrelneuroscience.org.
What we collect
We collect information you give us directly. If you make a gift, that includes your name, email address, postal address, and the amount and frequency of your gift. Payment card details are entered on and handled by our payment processor; Kestrel does not receive or store your full card number. If you write to us, apply for a position, or submit an inquiry, we receive whatever you choose to include in that message, including any attachments such as a CV.
We also receive limited technical information automatically when you visit the site, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages you viewed. This is standard web server activity and we use it to keep the site working and secure.
How we use it
We use your information to process and acknowledge your gift, to send you a receipt and any tax documentation you need, to respond to what you wrote to us, to consider your application if you applied for a role, and to keep the records the IRS requires us to keep. If you have given us your email address and asked to hear from us, we may send occasional updates about Kestrel's work, and every one of those messages will include a way to stop receiving them.
Who we share it with
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, and we do not share it with other organizations for their own marketing.
We share information with the service providers who make the site and our operations work — our payment processor, our website host, our email provider, and our accountants and auditors — and only to the extent they need it to do that work for us. We may also disclose information where the law requires it, or where it is necessary to protect the rights or safety of Kestrel or others.
How long we keep it
We keep donation records for at least seven years, which is what tax and audit requirements call for. Correspondence and job applications are kept only as long as they are useful, and are deleted after that.
Your choices and rights
You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Write to info@kestrelneuroscience.org and we will respond. We may need to keep some donation records even after such a request, because the law requires it.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation, including the rights to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, and port your data, and to object to processing. Where we process your data, we do so because it is necessary to perform a transaction you asked for, because we have a legitimate interest in operating and funding our charitable work, or because you consented. You also have the right to complain to your national data protection authority.
Children
The site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has given us information, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we will post the revised version here and update the effective date above.
